Hillsboro's Latino Cultural Festival has something for everyone By Kjerstin Gabrielson, The Oregonian April 05, 2010, 7:19AM Ben Carlson, Hillsboro Chamber of Commerce, 2009Organizers say the competition for the Hillsboro Futsal Cup has become the most popular event at the Latino Cultural Festival.
Hillsboro's annual Latino Cultural Festival is just around the corner.
The April 11 event aims to celebrate diversity and community through food, music and family activities, all at the Hillsboro Civic Center, 150 E.
The biggest draw, organizers say, is street soccer.
The ESPN Deportes Street Soccer Tournament will kick off the festivities at 9 a.m.
Teams of children and adults from the Portland metro and Salem areas will compete for the coveted Hillsboro Futsal Cup.
New to the festival this year will be a Multicultural Parade of Diversity at noon, when Hillsboro fifth- and sixth-graders will display their school spirit around the Civic Center.
The free festival organized by the Hillsboro Chamber of Commerce will run until 5 p.m., with Latino food vendors and entertainment, including Aztec dancers, and mariachi and salsa bands.
Information booths and children's activities round out the offerings.
